Let's be honest... most of us still have Halloween candy hidden in a cupboard somewhere and the last thing our kids really need is MORE candy! We've put together a list of our favorite sugar-free basket fillers just in case the Easter bunny is doing some last minute scrambling to prep for the big day.
Outdoor Play
The weather is finally warming up and the kids are anxious to get outside! Fill their baskets with outdoor play items like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, kites, frisbees, jump ropes, balls and even seeds for planting. Water toys, goggles, sunglasses, and swimwear would be great additions too!
Collectibles and Small Toys
Small figurines like army men, animals, dinosaurs, Lego mini-figures, and Shopkins make great Easter egg fillers. Look for collectible items your child might enjoy like Pokemon or baseball cards, Hot Wheels, or Barbie. Be creative and take your child's interests into account!
Rainy Day Activities
Now is a great time to purchase items that will help your child stay busy indoors on those rainy spring days. Coloring books, crayons, markers, puzzles, stickers, play-doh, books, board games, and movies are all great choices! Does your child want to play in the rain? Grab a new pair of rain boots and a colorful umbrella instead!
Spa Day
This isn't just for the girls! Every child can benefit from the positive effects of turning off the electronics and simply relaxing. A soft blanket or new pair of pajamas, comfy socks, bath bombs, bath toys, candles, music, chapstick, lotion and nail polish all make wonderful gift ideas.
We know its unrealistic to think that your child won't have any candy this Easter weekend, and that's ok! Remember to enjoy sweets in moderation, drink plenty of water, and of course, don't forget to brush and floss! If you'd like to set up an appointment for your child after the holiday, please call our office at 402-330-5535.
